2020 was a difficult year for all of us at BCFC as we faced this Pandemic together with the rest of the world. It looks like it will be a while yet before we are back even just to training in 2021 but with the gradual roll out of vaccines likely to ease the Covid -19 situation, we hope to get back as soon as we can and eventually get to some sort of ‘normal’ whatever that may look like later this year.
We had to cut our cloth to fit last year but with great support from our members and friends, both financially (particularly through our go fund me page which raised us over €5,000) and with their generous time given to the various projects, we managed to make some real progress at Woulfe Park. With a later start back than we would have hoped for looking likely, we hope to use this time to do some further work on our facilities over the next month and prepare and equip our coaches.
As always, we are on the look out for more help both with little jobs around Woulfe Park but also in terms of coaching and at committee level. If you do have some time available, please reach out to any of us on the Club Committee. All time is valuable to us so anything at all you can do will be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately we can’t give any specific times for a return to play yet but we will keep you all posted as soon as we have any concrete information. From February on, we will be sharing some training clips for our younger members to get them back into the swing of things.
Here are a few dates for your diaries over the coming 6 weeks or so.
· Valentines weekend (14th Feb) – Virtual 10k/5k family fun walk and run - watch this space for details.
· Tuesday 3rd March 8pm – Club AGM (on Zoom of course).
· 31st March – planned deadline for club registration (provisional – pending being provided details on return to play).
Please try and remember the local businesses that have supported us over the years when spending your money over the coming months, they will need your help. Also, as always, let’s keep a kind eye out for those that are more vulnerable in our community.
Thanks in advance
Stay safe everyone and see you all soon.
