The Ladies progressed to the Open Cup proper after a dominant display against Division 2's Lough Derg.
The match started at a million miles per hour with 4 goals inside the first 15 minutes.
Bunratty took the lead within 5 minutes with an Emma Nolan strike into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. The lead would only last two minutes as a sliced clearance from Leona Bridges allowed Ellen O'Donnell to steal in behind the defence and find parity. However, the stalemate would only last another two minutes as a Sarah Cusack cross from the left found Sharon McGorrian in the box who controlled and finished well. On 14 minutes, a fantastic throughball from Sabrina McCarthy split the defense to find Sharon McGorrian in the inside right channel, who crossed for an unmarked Amanda Madden to tap home from 6 yards.
And breathe....
Bunratty continued to be dangerous through Emma Nolan down the left and the midfield trio of Sabrina McCarthy, Edel McNamara and Leanne Boyle dictated the play for the majority. Sharon McGorrian could have added more to her tally, but could not find the required finishes when needed.
Bunratty added a fourth when a long range shot from Leanne Boyle slipped through the keepers gloves and bounced into the back of the net. A fifth was added before half time when a Sabrina McCarthy corner was volleyed home by Amanda Madden from 12 yards out.
With all the work done in the first half, the Ladies turned down the intensity for the second half but still could have managed another couple of goals.
Onwards to the next round of the cup and a trip to Kilmallock next week for gameday 6 of the league.
