CSSL U13 Girls Cup - Quarter Finals
6.30pm; Hermitage AFC 1-0 BunrattyCratloe FC
Our u13 girls went out of the cup with their heads held high after an epic battle in Ennis going down 1-0 this evening .
We were unfortunate with holidays etc to be missing 7 this evening but the depth of the panel really shone through with a battling performance from all involved. Ailish O'Grady and Cara Power went back to join Lucy Lohan in a new look back 3 and did a cracking job all evening to contain a very dangerous Hermitage side.
We went with 5 in midfield rotating a few positions to deal with the physically strong Ennis girls … our girls quality and fighting resolve stood up to the test with Lily Ryan, Meia Carroll and Abbie O'Gorman flanked by Cara Earley, Sophie Doherty and the ever improving Alice Browne at various stages in the game. Up front Muireann Earley was a constant threat and battled ferociously along with the excellent Caoilinn Earley and Carragh Hayes who both stepped up from our younger age groups to help the squad out tonight.
As we continued to press for an equaliser we left the door open a few times but Emma Jones was outstanding and kept us in the tie when we had to go for it. Tonight wasn’t the girls night but there will be many more and this squad will definitely have its day … very proud of the fight and skill levels on show from both sides …
